I get a rush when I pull a "hot" card that's similar to when I would win a hand of blackjack back when I used to play. I get urges to rip cards similar to when I'd have an urge to head to the casino. The difference is, whether I pull a "hot" card or not it doesn't affect my happiness overall. Sure it's nice to get something rare that will help me payoff my purchase, but I never EVER purchase cards with that conscious intent. My goal is to add to my collection, see something new and hold onto a piece of baseball history. So yes, the gambling is there, but that's not my purpose for collecting cards.
I like 2013 Topps Chrome and I'm less than impressed with 2013 Bowman Chrome. The Bowman's are SUPER curly and that pisses me off. After the disaster of 2010 I thought Topps had learned their lesson. My "hits" from the box of Topps Chrome were meh, and my Bowman hit was insane. Overall though, Topps was a much more fun break and that comes from a Bowman fanatic.
The bi-monthly card show is tomorrow in Wichita. I'm taking the badboy above to get a raw grade. I'm expecting a 9.5. I just received a $200 offer on Ebay and had to accept!
Nice payday.. congrats!
ReplyDeleteHey man, what's your address? I'll send you the Escobar bat relic. I don't need the A&G cards (I've got all my needs covered for the base set, I still could use some inserts). If nothing else, just keep an eye out for some Rangers or some of my player PC's. Thanks! judsonmeeks AT g mail DOT com.
